Ralph’s previous employment was in Nairobi, Kenya, where he ran a public relations consultancy, The WordWorks, providing PR and communications services to the agricultural, development and tourism industries.

As well as designing PR and training strategies for several leading development organisations and United Nations agencies based in Nairobi, Ralph has contributed to communications and fundraising initiatives for a variety of humanitarian and development programs in Somalia, Sudan, Uganda and Rwanda.

In December 2006, Ralph was the winner of UNESCO’s Red Ribbon Media Award for Excellence in HIV/AIDS Communications.
